SNMP monitoring for support workflows with GenticFlow
Read network device values through an internal probe
Bring values from SNMP-enabled printers, switches and other network devices into GenticFlow. An internal Network Probe reads the values you choose using SNMP v2c or v3. Add devices directly or discover them within a specified IPv4 range, then review their SNMP values alongside your other endpoints.
What GenticFlow does with this integration
SNMP Values
- Read individual OIDs using SNMP v2c or v3, with authentication and privacy options for v3
- Choose suggested OIDs for standard device details and supported printer supply levels, or enter your own OIDs
- Optionally use AI suggestions based on discovered device details; each suggested OID must return a value before it can be added. Review names, units and value labels before saving
- Review friendly values with read status and the last successful read in the details
- Keep the last successful value when a later read fails, clearly marked as stale
Optional Device Discovery
- Select an internal Network Probe and review subnet suggestions from its reported network interfaces
- Start a scan of an explicit IPv4 subnet or address range using your SNMP credentials
- Review responding devices and their available OIDs before adding targets
- Add a known host or IP address directly when discovery is unnecessary
Available Hardware Details
- Show numeric target addresses in the endpoint IP Address field
- Collect manufacturer, model and serial number when the device exposes a single identifiable chassis through ENTITY-MIB and the probe supports hardware discovery
- Map a specific OID to a hardware field when you know the device's OID
- Preserve existing hardware values when the same device temporarily stops returning them
Read-Only Probe Access
- All SNMP requests run through the selected internal probe, which must be able to reach the device
- Use device credentials with read access to the values you need
- Save the connector to collect SNMP values on its configured sync schedule
- This connector collects SNMP values; SNMP writes, traps and SNMP-specific alert conditions are not included
How It Works
Choose a Probe
Create a Service connector with SNMP selected and choose an eligible agent on the device's network. Saving the connector enables Network Probe on that agent.
Add or Discover Devices
Enter a device address and SNMP credentials, or scan a specified IPv4 range through the probe and review the devices that respond.
Select OIDs
Use Suggest OIDs to find standard readings and supported printer supply levels. Optional AI suggestions are checked against the device before selection. Review names, units and value labels, then save the targets and connector to begin scheduled collection.
Review Endpoint Values
Open an SNMP endpoint to see its SNMP values and available hardware details. OID details show whether a value is current, stale or unavailable, and when it was last read successfully.
SNMP values alongside your endpoints.
Collect the SNMP values your team needs through an internal probe. Review the latest SNMP values, retained values and available hardware details in the endpoint record when investigating a device or connectivity issue.
